51 firms miss demat deadline
MUMBAI:
Companies have started missing the deadline for dematerialisation of shares in spite of the market regulator’s grand plans. Out of 195 companies which should have gone into compulsory demat from June 26, 51 companies have been found unable to keep to the schedule – the reason being that these companies have been unable to establish connectivity with either of the depositories. Securities and Exchange Board of India has decided to extend the date now. This is not the first time that Sebi has been forced to extend the scheduled date for dematting scrips. Last time it happened was before the May 8 deadline when 63 companies requested more time on the well-worn excuse of no-connectivity with the depositories.

Incidentally, Sebi on its part had announced the schedule and the list for dematerialisation as far back as in February 28 this year.

Patni Computer
MUMBAI:
Under its first partner-services evaluation programme, SAP America Inc has chosen Mumbai-based Patni Computer Systems Limited (PCS), among India’s top 10 software export companies, as its national implementation partner for providing pre-sales and post-sales services to its customers intending to participate in its mySAP.com initiative. SAP and PCS will be undertaking cooperative efforts to further the implementation of SAP’s mySAP.com e-business solutions in the US. A non-transferable licence to its software, documentation and third party databases has been granted by SAP to PCS for testing and subsequently demonstrating all SAP products to potential clients.
