MUMBAI: The Reserve Bank of India has changed the name of its credit planning cell to monetary policy department. The new name — which took effect from January — reflects the functional role of the department which is to formulate the monetary policy stance and put in place monetary policy initiatives from time to time
Gold recovers
MUMBAI: Prices of gold recovered moderately while silver held steady on the bullion market. Standard gold found fresh buying support at low levels and rose by Rs 10 to close at Rs 3980 from yesterday’s level. 22-carat gold was nominally quoted better at Rs 3680 from Rs 3670 while 10-tola gold bar of .999 purity hardened by Rs 100 to settle at Rs 46,600 from the last mark of Rs 46,500. Ready silver of .999 fineness, raw silver of .916 fineness and tenderable silver showed no change from the last close of Rs 8150, Rs 8050 and Rs 8155 respectively.
