That Bihar still occupies a lot of space in Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav8217;s scheme of things is well known. Yadav is all set to underline his affection for his home state on July 1, when he plans to lay foundation stones and inaugurate as many as 11 projects in Bihar in around seven-and-a-half hours.

Lalu will start his inauguration spree at 10.30 am from Banka, where he is scheduled to flag off the Banka-Bhagalpur Passenger train, inaugurate a road-overbridge on the Banka-Amarpur Road and another one at Bhagalpur-Dumka road and attend a function relating to the commencement of works for the new Banka-Katuria broad gauge line. The four projects are to be covered in an hour8217;s time.

Lalu will then take a train to Bhagalpur where he would first inspect the ongoing works at the railway station and then inaugurate modernisation works. Then, he would lay the foundation stone of a new coaching complex, flag off the Bhagalpur-New Delhi Weekly Express and inaugurate a new level-crossing between Nathnagar and Akbarnagar. All this would be accomplished within two hours.

The minister would then chug on to Patam in Munger district to lay the foundation for a halt between Jamalpur and Ratanpur. Forty-five minutes later, Yadav would be laying the foundation stone for the modernisation of the Jamalpur station.

Yadav would then travel to Mahama village where he would inaugurate a new level-crossing between Dharhara and Masudhan at 5.45 pm. A two-and-a-half hour journey from Mahama would bring Lalu back to Patna at 8.30 pm.

Yadav8217;s Bihar spree would be preceded by another hectic day in West Bengal on June 30. The minister is scheduled to lay foundation stones for gauge conversion works between Bardhaman and Katwa and for an overbridge at Durgapur. He would also flag off the Howrah-Siuri Express train at Siuri and attend a cultural programme in Asansol.
