NEW DELHI, July 24: State Bank of India scored a thumping 5-0 victory over B E L in the Delhi State Hockey League for institutional teams at Shivaji Stadium. It was a mis-match as State Bank of India completely dominated the proceedings in both sessions of the game and scored at will against the weak defence of their opponents. They could have scored at least a couple of more goals if only their finishing had been more accurate.
Centre-half Jaswinder Singh put the State Bank of India team in front with a goal in the 19th minute. Right-back Sukhdev Singh increased the margin six minutes later by getting past a couple of defenders to bang the ball home.
Inside-right Deepak Bhalla further consolidated their position with the third goal after change of ends. Centre-forward Om Prakash Saini added another goal in the 40th minute while inside-left C B Amola completed the tally for the bankmen by converting a penalty corner in the 42nd minute.
