Bhatt suspends five engineers

VADODARA, Oct 4: Continuing with the purge of officials charged with corruption and dereliction of duty, Gujarat Electricity Board chairman Nalin Bhatt suspended four deputy engineers and a junior engineer posted at different places in the State.

While a junior engineer was caught accepting bribe, a deputy engineer in Sankheda was suspended for taking a bribe of Rs 200 and another at Bharuch was suspended for accepting Rs 25,000. All were caught by the Anti-Corruption Bureau when they were accepting the bribes, according to an official statement issued on Sunday. A deputy engineer was suspended on charges of committing irregularities during supervision of construction of GEB housing quarters in Navsari.In Valsad district resulting in poor condition of the quarters. A deputy engineer of Sikka Power Station in Jamnagar district was found responsible for indulging in irregularities about weight of the fuel being transported in oil tankers causing financial loss to the Board.
