CHANDIGARH, April 8: The leaderboard remained the same after the third round of the Bharat Petroleum Samarvir Sahi Chandigarh Amateur Golf Championship, which is being played here at the Chandigarh Golf Club. Digvijay Singh is leading and Harmeet Kahlon following suit.

Digvijay, who shot three over par 75, struggled with his putter all day. Even though he dropped shots on the 1st, 3rd, 4th and 10th, he made up by picking up shots on the 2nd, 11th, 14th and 17th that he birdied. The Meerut based golfer’s worst nightmare came true when he hit his drive into the right rough in the 15th hole and three shots later was still in there. With no place to take a penalty drop, he eventually got out on the fourth attempt. He hit the green and made to putt to finish the hole in 7.

Harmeet Kahlon, who was four stroke behind yesterday, shot four over par 76 in the contest today.

Shiraz Kalra shot one over 73 and is placed at the third spot, leaving behind Anitya Chand with whom he was tied yesterday. Chand played two over par today and is lying fourth.

The best round of the day, however was carded by Aman Behl as he double bogeyed the last hole to finish level par. He is the only golfer in the meet, who has improved his position.

The other good scores of the day were brought in by Jaiveer Singh, originally a Chandigarh boy, now based in Delhi. He played one over par 73. He had a beautiful second shot on the 2nd hole and sank a one-foot for his eagle.

Amit Luthra, a veteran amateur golfer, who has represented India in the Asian Games has just not been able to find his form. He says, "I am hitting my woods very well but an just not hitting my irons and my wedges well enough. As a result I am not scoring."
