The first thing one expects a dance exponent to include in her list of bare necessities is dance. But that is not all that Ewa Maria Cherukuru cannot do without. Topping her list of needs is peace and quiet.

Says she, 8220;Wherever one goes these days, one has to put up with noise. Everything from big cars to scooters and auto-rickshaws must honk. Then comes a festival or a match won and firecrackers blast the air. Phew! All this just unnerves me, for I must have peace and quiet.

8220;The other thing that bogs me down is the lack of greenery. I feel that for every tree cut down, people should plant at least 25 more. When the noise and the barren areas get too much for me, I drive down to Mahabaleshwar for my weekly quota.8221;

And, of course, the lady simply cannot live without dancing. 8220;I dance at least one and a half hours a day. Dance, to me, is not just dance.8217; It is a form of meditation and fills me with a deep sense of peace. When one is dancing, there is nothing you can think of but that. Give me my peace, my trees, my dance and I8217;m happy.8221;
