Bansal146;s munshi reveals name of judge who was to get cash

Sanjeev Bansal8217;s munshi Jai Prakash Rana has named another Punjab and Haryana High Court judge to whom Rs 15 lakh was to be delivered.

In his statement before the police, Rana mentioned that Renu Bansal Sanjeev Bansal8217;s wife had called him on the intercom and informed him that Ravinder another accused in the case, who is still at large had sent a packet which needed to be delivered at the residence of a High Court judge.

Rana added that he called Prakash Ram, also working as munshi with Bansal, and handed over the packet to the latter, asking him to deliver it at the judge8217;s residence. Bansal in his statement mentioned that he was not aware of the contents of the packet.

Both Rana and property dealer Nirmal Singh8217;s statements were recorded at the office of Deputy Superintendent of Police CID. After this, they were taken to the Sector 11 police station for further questioning.

While Nirmal Singh was arrested on charges of giving false statements to the police, Rana is yet to be arrested. Police sources said Rana8217;s statements could be used as supporting evidence during the course of trial.

Investigations have revealed that Delhi-based hotelier Ravinder Singhhad called on the other judge8217;s mobile phone and landline numbers a number of times before the incident came to light and even after that. Sources say Ravinder Singh8217;s mobile phone details reveal his links with known legal luminaries and Bansal as well. He is reported to have spoken to Bansal and the other high court judge before the cash was 8216;mistakenly8217; delivered at the residence of Justice Nirmaljit Kaur.
