Rehan Baig, brother of former minister Roshan Baig, refused to undergo narcoanalysis tests on Monday. ‘‘I refused to undergo the narcoanalysis tests,’’ Baig, who himself is a doctor, told reporters on the city court premises on Monday. He has been remanded to judicial custody till January 19. Hearing his bail plea, Ninth Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Chandrasekhar Hippargi directed the prosecution to file its objection against the bail application before January 13. Before arresting Baig, StampIT had subjected him to polygraph tests twice. — (ENS)

The Supreme Court Monday issued notice on a plea seeking an independent and expeditious investigation into the June 12, 2025, crash of an Air India Boeing Dreamliner in Ahmedabad, which killed 260 people. The bench also termed as “unfortunate” media reports which indicated that “pilot error” was to blame for the crash, purportedly quoting some preliminary findings by the AAIB.
