August 6: Fide Master and top seed Avinash Awate led the field with an all-win record in the Maharashtra State Selection chess tournament, organised by the Bombay Chess Association, at the Bhosale Sports Complex, Andheri, today. He beat Prathamesh Mokal of Pune.

Rashmin Pulekar, who is in the second spot with 4.5 points, defeated Venkatesh Rao.
