8226; Both the Congress and TRS benefited from the Naxalites8217; help in last year8217;s elections in Andhra Pradesh. There is an adage that truth emerges only when robbers fall out. That is what your report 8216;YSR slams TRS8217; IE, September 20 conveys in simple words. To defeat the TDP, both Congress and TRS used the Naxals without realising they were astride a tiger. Caution and scruples were given a go-by to come to power.

RSS8217;s BJP

8226; It is good that the BJP will finally be free from the clutches of the duo of old war horses, who were simply not accepting the end of their era. The talk of all the sacrifices they made is a sham as what they got in return was unbelievable even for them and they appear to have got addicted to it in such a short time. Now that there is no power in sight in the near future, the RSS has an excellent opportunity to build the political party of their dreams! Contrary to your view in the editorial 8216;End notes8217; IE, September 20 that this party must be freed from the RSS, I believe this party got unprecedented freedom which ultimately corrupted the whole organisation. The RSS should learn its lessons and take corrective steps for the future.

Creating champions

8226; It was amusing to see the Indian media go giddy over Sania Mirza8217;s performance in the US Open. Mirza did not cause even a minor upset. She won evenly contested matches against relatively unknown, lower ranked players. That a higher rank player is only supposed to win such matches was a moot point completely drowned in a wave of uncontrolled euphoria. One could be excused for thinking this was Disneyland! Come on folks, please keep it real. You simply went overboard. Champions are born, not created by a gushing press.

Ganguly can go

8226; Greg Chappell is a thorough professional and he knows what is good for the team. Ganguly, on the other hand, has been consistently underperforming. He certainly doesn8217;t deserve a place in the team in both forms of the game.

Scent of scandal

8226; Apropos of your editorial 8216;India8217;s KGB hands8217; IE, September 20, the Mitrokhin archives are not anymore considered an unimpeachable source by most Cold War historians.

A higher plane

8226; Apropos of the article in the 8216;India Empowered8217; series by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev IE, September 19, his words go beyond petty factionalism and populist religious jargon. At a time when the front pages of newspapers are more intent on covering politics and sleaze, hats off to the Indian Express for presenting a wholesome dimension which will inspire people to look beyond their selfish interests.
