MUMBAI, October 20: Asia’s largest state-of-the-art animation studio, where over a hundred international and Indian animators will be working under one roof, has started operations at Esselworld. The Zed Institute of Creative Arts (ZICA), equipped with latest software, editing and digital recording systems, was inaugurated by Subhash Chandra, chairman of Essel group of industries, on Tuesday at Goregaon.

Established with the sole aim of developing the creative art of pouring life into drawings, ZICA presently is gripped with feverish activity in the making of Bhagmati, the country’s first full-length feature film in animation in Hindi, based on the legendary love story of Quli Qutb Shah and his beautiful consort Bhagmati.

Marking Zee’s foray into animated film production, the movie’s English version titled Queen of Fortunes would be released globally.

ZICA is also on the verge on completing a full-length TV film Wings of Freedom based on the country’s struggle for independence. “Itis for the first time that an animation film of such a magnitude and intensity is being made for the small screen,” a Zee spokesperson said.
