Jagdish Shukla, former racing correspondent of The Indian Express succumbed to a year-long battle with throat cancer on Thursday. He was 82 and is survived by three daughters and three sons.

Jagdish Shukla, former racing correspondent of The Indian Express succumbed to a year-long battle with throat cancer on Thursday. He was 82 and is survived by three daughters and three sons.

Shuklaji, popularly known as 8216;Ashwamitra8217; worked with The Indian Express from 1972 to 2001. Shukla was also instrumental in setting up the Western India racing Journalists8217; Association WIRJA along with well known journalists like Cecil Hendricks Pegasus and Surendra Dikshit Shyamakarma. He served as the treasurer of the association until his last days.
