NEW DELHI, September 6: Sumit Arora and Manish Rawat moved into the second round of boys singles (under-16) conceding just one point against their espective opponents on the opening day of the Delhi State Badminton Championships at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium here today. Sumit beat Kapil Gupta 15-1, 15-0 while Manish prevailed over Rachit Sharma 15-0, 15-1.

In girls (under-16) singles first round, Divya, Shalini, Deepti, Shradha Chabra and Parul Rawat beat their respective opponents without conceding a game. In boys (under-10), Bhishim Wahi defeated Yakshud Chopra 15-3, 17-16.

Kshitij and Bharat Bajaj defeated Mows Yonus and Sahil respectively in straight games to move into the second round. In boys under-13 first round, Akash conceded a game before beating Jatin Luthra 15-12, 10-15, 15-5. Nikhil Singhal beat Sudhanshu 15-6, 15-3 without any fuss tomake progress.
