NEW DELHI, September 28: Three second-half goals helped Army Public School (Ridge Road) eliminate five-time champions Government School, Moti Bagh No. 1 in the Limca Soccer tournament at Modern School (Barakhamba Road). APS won 3-0. Vibhu Mehta (2) and Sunil Chetri were the scorers.

With a goal in each half Modern (Bara. Rd) defeated St Martin (Delhi Cantt) 2-1. Viraj and Nitin netted for the winners while Abhishek Minz reduced the margin for the losers. St Columba’s School defeated DPS (Mathura Rd) 4-3 via tie-breaker. Both teams were locked 1-1 at the end of regulation period.

Columba’s scored first through Abhishek Moses Richard in the first half while DPS equalised in the latter half through Shumail’s header. In the tie-breaker, Royston Toppo, Parveen Lawrence and Akshay Aggarwal scored for the winners while Arenth, Anjum and Sufian found the target for DPS. In sudden-death, St Columba’s goalkeeper Amit Thakur put the ball into the net while Sulaiman of DPS shot into the goalkeeper’s hands.

Joyton Chatterjee and Amit Mittal netted once each in Modern’s (Vasant Vihar) 2-0 win over Springdales (Pusa Road).
