MUMBAI, MAR 14: The fate of the team to represent India in the Bridge Federation of Asian and Middleeast Championships now rests in the hands of the Appeals Committee. At the Central Railway Auditorium, the final contest between Well Knit, Madras and Sunil Machhar stands poised with just 3.3 IMPs seperating the two, the advantage lying with Well Knit and Sunil Machhar appealing against a play in the last board.

According to technical director, Sanjay Damle, Well Knit bid six clubs after a pause by one of their teammates, which Sunil Machhar felt was unfair, and hence the appeal. The appeals committee will now decide whether the hands stands. Till then Well Knit lead by 26.33 IMP after seventh session.

Scores (seven sessions): Well Knit 268.33 (CR Badrinath, AS Vishwanathan, R Krishnan, B Prabhakar, S Sunderam, P Sridhar) vs Sunil Machhar 242 (Sunil Machhar, R Shreedharan, A Khare, R Tolani, V Desai, S Vaidya).
