
PATIALA, Aug 8: The anti-panthic forces will have to pay a heavy price during the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, Gurcharan Singh Tohra, president of the All India Shiromani Akali Dal, has said.
Addressing a workers meeting at Bahera yesterday, he said those doing propaganda against the Akal Takht would have to pay for their mistakes. He said that now the people have to choose their representative from panthic and anti-panthic forces in the elections.
Later, Tohra and Prof Prem Singh Chandumajra, AISAD nominee for the Patiala Lok Sabha seat, were weighed with coins by the Sehgal community led by Sarooop Singh Sehgal. Sehgal also presented a purse of Rs 51,000 to Tohra on behalf of the Bahera Road Kabari Shop Association.Others who spoke on the occasion included Balwant Singh Jandu, advocate, Harpal Singh Sehgal, Beant Singh, Jai Singh Grover and Sardara Singh Kohli. Tohra also announced names of office-bearers of the district jatha of his party on this occasion.
According to the announcement, Harpal Singh Sehgal has been appointed as senior vice-president of AISAD8217;s Patiala district jatha. Other office-bearers are Beant Singh Sehgal, Mohinder Singh Sehgal and Ajit Singh Chadha, general secretary, Jai Singh Grover, vice-president, Amarjit Singh Sahni, Jaswinder Singh Numberdar and Rattan Singh Joli, all secretaries, and Devinder Singh Sehgal, Khajan Singh Talwar, Lakhbir Chandok, Tirlochan Singh, Devinder Singh Grover, Kulwant Singh, Dharam Singh Sehgal, Harpreet Singh Chhabra and Amarjit Singh. Chadha, Baldev Singh Pammi, Baba Saroop Singh, Kuldeep Singh Sehgal and Harpal Singh Bittu as members of the working committee.
