Mumbai, June 17: India are to play nine Test matches, six of these at home, during the 1999-2000 season against three countries in six months as per the tentative schedule drawn up by the cricket board.

India, who last played a Test match at Calcutta against Pakistan in March as part of the Asian Championship, would be involved in a three-Test series against New Zealand at home in October-November.

They would then tour Australia for a three-Test series before locking horns with the South Africans at home for three Tests.

The New Zealand tour is set between October 3 and November 22 during which period the visitors would also play a three-day fixture besides five One-day internationals.

India8217;s Australia tour commences from November 23 and they will play in the annual tri-series featuring Pakistan and the hosts. The tour will start with two side fixtures and would conclude on February 13.

The South Africans8217; visit to India is scheduled between February 15 and March 20 and would also feature five One-day internationals.

The Indians later go to Sharjah along with South Africa to contest the tri-series there from March 22-31 along with Pakistan.

India8217;s first engagement after the World Cup is the tri-series in Sri Lanka between August 22-31 also featuring Australia.

There is a visit scheduled to Kenya for a tri-series there which would be finalised this month in London by the board officials.

The annual Sahara Cup five-match series against Pakistan is slated for September at Toronto.
