Linares, Feb 25: After a free day, India8217;s Viswanathan Anand was set to take on V Topalov of Bulgaria in the fourth round of the 16th Linares chess tournament yesterday. Anand, who recorded his third draw against world champion Garry Kasparov on Tuesday, is placed joint second with 1.5 points in this 14-round tournament.

Michael Adams of England and Garry Kasparov jointly lead the field with two points apiece. Vassily Kramnik, Peter Svidler and Topalov are tied with Anand with 1.5 points. All but two of the 12 games played till now have been drawn.

Kunte, Das lose again

DHAKA: The poor run of both Abhijit Kunte 2 and Neelotpal Das 0.5 continued as the two Indian International Masters IM suffered their second successive defeats in the sixth round of the 4th United Insurance Grandmasters Chess Tournament here Wednesday night. English GM Nigel Short and Yuri Shulmans of Belarus were leading with five points each after the sixth round.
