PARWANOO, Nov 24: Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood and Goldy Locks - they were all there in the dense jungle, around the impressive castle, illuminated by colourful overhead spotlights . the tiny tots of Primary Wing were at their ``acting best'' during the ongoing ``Festival of Theatre'' at Eicher School, here today.Undeterred by the absence of a formal stage, the students had metamorphosed a ``simple looking shed into an auditorium of sorts''. And this was not all.The parents, sitting on thick carpets, were not mere spectators. They were ``a part of the action''. With every knock at the wooden door by the furious wolf, they sat, waiting for the inevitable. It was, indeed, a journey down the memory lane for many others who were captivated by the enthusiasm of the children. The smile on the faces of the parents, their clicking pictures with a camera and handicam every now and then only indicated that the children had performed to their heart's delight. The students of Class I staged ``Little Red Riding Hood'', the Class II students presented ``Cinderella'' and Class III students staged `` Goldy Locks and Three Bears''.The glittering costumes of the performers looked impressive in the ball dance sequence in Cinderella. Vikram from Kalka was brilliant on the Casio. The light and sound effects were manned by no professional but the school teachers. The light effects were effectively used to send the children from one place to another in the absence of a proper back stage.School principal Lata Vaidyanathan said ``that drama has the power to make new things familiar and familiar things new.'' In fact, the process of staging the show was more important to them than the actual performance. The emphasis during the rehearsals was on processing the emotions of the kids and not the physical infrastructure, she added. The principal also read out the school report highlighting the activities of the primary wing during the past year. Presiding over the function, Joint Secretary, CBSE Regional Office, Y P Katyal appreciated the team effort of the school in putting up an impressive show. He particularly lauded the students for the confidence with which they handled the show and the instant rapport which they struck with the audience. He also talked about the role of schools in suburbs in imparting education.
