
JANUARY 11: Havaldar Amrik Singh of Army Red set a new Services mark of 1:26.50 hours for the 20 km walk in the Inter-Services Athletics Championships held at Kohli Staium, Colaba. The meet, which concluded on Saturday, saw three more records rewritten 8212; 50 km walk by Gurdarshan Singh Army Red in a time of 4:25.2 hours, Pole vault by Ramdhari Singh Army Red with 4.58m, and Hammer throw of 60.8m by N Singh Navy.
Team Chetana shine: Suma Panikar of Chetana College bagged two gold medal with a new National record in open sight air rifle junior and senior women at the VIIIth GV Mavalankar All-India shooting competition held in Asansol recently.
Poonam Tahiliani equalled the National mark while notching a gold and silver in the peep sight air rifle event, while Vaishali Sathe bagged gold and a new national record in the open sight air-rifle sub-junior women category.
Trupti Rasam, Yogesh Gadmale, Pawan Singh and Abdul Kayyum also chipped in with medals, as shooters from Chetana8217;s Rifle andPistol Training Academy contributed five gold, two silver and three bronze to Maharashtra8217;s tally of 11 gold, nine silver and seven bronze.
Russel, Harish score: Russel scored a brace in Star of Canara SC 5-0 win over Bombay Port SC in the Paygade Karnataka League Football Tournament at the Karnataka Sports Association ground. Merdoxa, Stevan and Ronnie Joha scored a goal each. In another match, Karnataka Amateur SC drubbed Saraswati SC 5-0. Harish scored a brace while Udaya, Rocke and Shasker scored a goal each.
