It was most pleasing to witness Signal Tap putting up a great show despite bleeding through the nose and claiming the runner-up berth.

Favourite top-weighted Final Authority was third ahead of Imperial Call. The pace was set by High Voltage. Regent Star raised hopes from 600 metres onwards but turned out a spent force from 200 metre-marker.
