Dinesh Mongia came up with a fine all round performance to help Leics beat Somerset by 71 runs in the National League Division 2 match at Oakham on Sunday. The Punjab skipper first hit a 72-ball 75 to take his team to a respectable total of 217 for 4 and then claimed 4/12 to bowl out the opponents for 146. Then the left-arm spinner got the prize wicket of Graeme Smith.

Pathan8217;s effort goes in vain

Irfan Pathan shone with the ball but failed to guide Middlesex to victory in a thrilling encounter against Essex. Having failed with the bat as a pinch-hitter, he bowled a brilliant first spell to reduce the opponents to 49/ 2 while chasing 244. He finished with figures of 3/42 but Essex won with a ball to spare.
