HARARE, FEBRUARY 4: World No 1 Andre Agassi, welcomed on court with a standing ovation and beating drums, got the US Davis Cup World Group campaign off to a winning start when he beat Zimbabwe’s Wayne Black 7-5, 6-3, 7-5 on Friday.

Chris Woodruff takes on Zimbabwe No 1 Byron Black in the day’s second singles.

Agassi paid thanks to new US team captain John McEnroe forguiding him through a difficult third set when Black broke serve to tie it at 4-4. “He’s ideal to keep you on,” Agassi said.

Russia 1-0 up
