
AHMEDABAD, DEC 17: Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader L K Advani has ruled out early assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh following the latest controversy over the Ram temple-babri masjid issue in ayodhya.
Speaking to reporters here today after attending a meeting of the Somnath temple trust, Advani praised the Rajnath Singh government in Uttar Pradesh and said it was successful in controlling law and order during in its two-month rule.
Advani also ruled out the BJP joining ranks with some other party for the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh next year.
“The improved situation in the state with the coming of Rajnath Singh will further become better in the next year. With such a good performance expected, I am sure that we don’t need any other party’s support.”
Asked if the expulsion of former chief minister Kalyan Singh from the party could negate its chances in the state, Advani said, “the expulsion will do more harm to Mr Kalyan Singh than the BJP.”
