Supporters of Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and MPCC president Govindrao Adik are once again in combat mode.
Adik8217;s close confidant, Vivek Pandit, who is also the chairman of the Social Justice Cell of the MPCC has made a formal complaint to AICC general secretary incharge of Maharashtra affairs Vayalar Ravi regarding a private function that the CM is attending tomorrow.
The Adik faction is vociferous in its protest about the proposed function organised by Vasai MLA Hiten Thakur. Deshmukh is scheduled to attend two inaugural functions 8212; the 160-crore Surya Water Supply Scheme and a resort, hospital-cum-shopping centre owned by Thakur. He is also scheduled to address a public meeting along with NCP president Sharad Pawar.
The Adik faction has been trying to scuttle any moves of a long-term alliance with the NCP. Pandit said: 8216;8216;This is not good for our image. Thakur, with his mafia connections, is responsible for the party8217;s erosion from Vasai and Thane. By attending the function, the CM is giving legitimacy to Thakur8217;s destructive apparatus.8217;8217;
