
Security forces gunned down as many as seven suspected Bangladeshi HuJI terrorists in the Bashbari reserved forest in Dhubri district of Lower Assam early Friday morning. The army also recovered several arms and ammunition from them. The incident occurred at around 3:30 am after the terrrorists crossed the Indo-Bangladesh border late Thursday night.
The seven suspects, whose identities are yet to be confirmed, were killed after they stepped into an ambush the troops of the 21 Jat regiment had laid out for them following specific information.
8220;While the incident occurred in the wee hours today, the troops recovered various documents that proved they had freshly entered from Bangladesh,8221; Col Rajesh Kalia, spokesman for the army8217;s Four Corps headquarters at Tezpur said. The documents included receipts of hotels in Bangladesh apart from SIM cards of Grameen Phone of Bangladesh, he added.
The army also recovered four revolvers and two pistols from them apart from one fully timed IED and several smaller explosive devices. Over 20,000 Bangladesh Taka, Indian currency notes worth Rs Rs 4,100 and Bangladeshi bus tickets were also recovered from them. The encounter took place about 15 kms from the Indo-Bangladesh border.
The authorities however are yet to ascertain where the suspected HuJI militants were heading to. 8220;Since all the seven members of the group have been killed, there was no immediate clue about where they came from or where they were heading to,8221; the army spokesman said.
