45-yr-old held for rape, murder of minor girl

Pawan Kumar, the father of the deceased girl, alleged that yesterday night Madan Lal came to his house in his absence at 10 pm when his wife and three daughters were sleeping. The accused tried to rape his wife, but she managed to run out of the house and raised an alarm. 8220;By that time, I also returned and entered my house along with other neighbours, but Madal Lal had already left the house and taken my daughter with him,8221; said Pawan.

The police were informed and a search operation was launched immediately. The accused was nabbed from Phillaur bus stand today morning. During questioning, he told the police that he had killed the girl after raping her. The police recovered the body of the girl from some bushes close to the railway line.
