NEW DELHI, September 4: A spate of robberies were reported from various areas in the Capital in the past 24 hours. Armed assailants waylaid two businessmen and robbed them of over Rs 1.5 lakh in separate incidents. The police has been unable to make any arrests so far.

The police said that four armed assailants waylaid Vijay Gulati8217;s Maruti when he was coming from the direction of Punjabi Bagh in west Delhi towards Paharganj on Thursday. They stopped his car, threw him out and drove off. Gulati told the police that he was carrying Rs 90,000 in the car. The Paharganj police said that efforts were on to identify the assailants.

In another incident, a resident of New Palam Vihar in Gurgaon was robbed of Rs 25,000 by two scooter-borne youth near the Punjab National Bank at Rohini, Sector 7. In a separate case, four unidentified assailants entered a wholesale shop and decamped with cash amounting to Rs 32,000 in the Trilokpuri area of east Delhi. The door of the shop was open and a person walked in enquiring about the price of an article.

They tied the three men and locked them into the store. While they were looting the shop, Sushant8217;s relative Saurabh entered the shop. He too was tied and thrown in the store. The youths decamped with the money.

In a separate incident, four unidentified assailants reportedly robbed a Raja Garden general store around 9 p.m. tonight. Three employees, Mahavir, Manilal and Mansingh, were present in the shop at the time of the incident.

The police claim that there are contradictions in their statement and are probing the case.
