NEW DELHI, September 17: The Crime Branch has arrested two men, Tasleem and Naimuddin, from Moradabad for allegedly helping a Pakistani national illegally obtain an Indian passport. They are believed to have recieved arms training from Pakistan recently. The police got information about them from Kamran, the main accused in the 1997 serial blasts in the Capital.
A diary has been recovered from their possession, which the police believe will help in the investigation. The police said that the duo had given shelter to Pakistani national Amaar who was living in India as the Imam of Umri Kalan mosque near Moradabad and was held responsible for the two blasts in Punjab last year. Amaar was later killed in an encounter at the Indo-Pak border on August 28, this year.
The police say that Amaar had sent Tasleem and Naimuddin to Pakistan earlier. Tasleem and Niamuddin, after returning from Pakistan, helped Amaar acquire an Indian passport by providing verification of his antecedents with the police.
