2 dead in house collapse at Bhendi Bazaar

Mumbai, July 17: Two persons died and five were seriously injured in a house collapse in the Bhendi Bazaar area early this morning. At around 6.30 am, a portion of a five-storeyed building on Samuel Street collapsed around the residents sleeping inside the building. The injured persons were rushed to JJ Hospital, where two of them succumbed to their injuries.

Rescue work was on to clear the debris till late in the evneing. Fire brigade officials said that the cause of the mishap has not yet been ascertained.

According to officials at the JJ Hospital, the condition of the other five persons is said to be stable.
