15 elected to top Syndicate slots

The elections to the Syndicate was held on Sunday at the Panjab University with fifteen names being elected for the top positions.

The elections to the Syndicate was held on Sunday at the Panjab University with fifteen names being elected for the top positions.

Elections were held for the Science and Arts faculty while for the other faculties, including Law, selection was made by a unanimous decision. Former Advocate General Punjab G K Chatrath won the Senate elections for the eleventh time.

From the Faculty of Arts, Dr Gurdip Kumar Sharma, Dr I S Sandhu and Prabhjit Singh were declared elected. From Faculty of Science, Dr Dalip Kumar, Jagpal Singh alias Jaswant Singh and Dr Satish Kumar Sharma were elected.

In the Faculty of Language, Dr Kuldip Singh and Malwinder Singh Kang were elected while elections to the Faculty of Law saw Gopal Krishan Chatrath and Professor SK Sharma emerge as winners.

While Ashok Goyal alias Ashok Kumar and Jarnail Singh were elected to the faculty of Medical Sciences, Dr Kamaljit Singh, Professor Naval Kishore and Professor Shelly Walia made it from the Combined Faculty to the Syndicate.

The Syndicate has a term of four years. The new Syndicate will meet once in a month to discuss issues related to the university and the decisions taken would be communicated to the Senate for a final approval.
