Chandigarh, May 29: The city traffic police, in collaboration with the Traffic Wardens8217; Cell, today challaned nearly 100 vehicles and impounded seven others during a drive to check faulty number plates in the city.

A senior police official said that the drive was carried out in Sector 10, 11, 15 and 37 simultaneously from 8.00 am to 10.30 am. He added that vehicles whose number plates were not according to the specifications laid down by the Motor Vehicles Act were challaned.

In addition to these challans, about 24 traffic wardens issued 95 Traffic Violation Information Slips TVISs to defaulters, Amar Manchanda, Chief Traffic Warden said.
