Then, the PRP is applied or injected into your face along with microneedling. This entire treatment procedure can take up to 45 minutes or more,” said Dr Shareefa Chause, dermatologist, Dr Shareefa Skin Care Clinic, Mumbai.

Dr Chause stressed that many undergo this skin treatment as they believe it can help boost their collagen, reduce the visibility of wrinkles, improve skin texture such that it provides baby-soft skin, and also leave a long-lasting glow on their face, making them look much younger. However, one needs to understand that along with promising benefits, this procedure also comes with its own sets of downsides. “It can cause various post-effects like redness, increased skin sensitivity, and bruising,” said Dr Chause.

The vampire facial can increase the risk of infection if not done correctly, cautioned Dr Chause.

“People with active skin infections, blood disorders, or certain medical conditions should avoid hopping on this trend,” said Dr Chause.
