How to apply?

*Gently apply the paste to your clean, damp face, using circular motions to focus on areas like the forehead, nose, and chin. Be cautious not to use excessive pressure to prevent skin irritation.
*Leave the chia seed exfoliating mask on for 5-10 minutes to avoid over-exfoliation, then rinse with lukewarm water, using gentle, circular motions for continued exfoliation while removing the mask.
*Pat your face dry and limit chia seed exfoliation to once a week to protect your skin’s barrier.

Chia seeds are a popular choice in skincare due to their rich content of vital nutrients such as omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants, and vitamins that offer potential benefits for the skin. Noting that the outcome of using such a mask can vary from person to person, Dr. Kuna Ramdas, senior dermatologist, Kamineni Hospitals, L.B Nagar, Hyderabad said incorporating it can potentially contribute to improved hydration, exfoliation, and the reduction of inflammation.

“Exfoliating with chia seeds can offer several benefits, as they are naturally abrasive when ground, effectively removing dead skin cells and promoting smoother, brighter skin,” added Das.

What to keep in mind?

Exfoliation can help improve the overall appearance and texture of your skin, but it should be done in moderation and with care to avoid over-exfoliation, which can lead to skin problems. “Chia seeds can offer a natural and gentle way to exfoliate, but it’s important to adjust the frequency and intensity based on your skin type and its response to the treatment,” Das mentioned.

Das recommended that after exfoliating, apply sunscreen to protect your skin from increased UV sensitivity and be mindful of your skin’s reactions.
