With more than 20 films under her belt, Shraddha Kapoor has come a long way from her debut movie Teen Patti. The actor, who recently starred in the movie Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar, has slowly and steadily become one of the most loved and sought-after stars of her generation in the industry. She might be a star kid, but Shraddha Kapoor has managed to carve a niche for herself with her back-to-back stellar performances. But beyond her on-screen persona, her bubbly nature, candour and charm make her the ‘it’ girl of B-town.

In an interview, the 36-year-old opens up on her commitment to fitness, her beauty mantra, her love for food and her biggest learnings. Excerpts:

Q. What is your fitness mantra?

Shraddha: My fitness mantra revolves around consistency, balance and self-care. I believe in making fitness a part of my daily routine and prioritising it alongside my other commitments. I aim for a well-rounded approach that includes a combination of cardio, strength training and flexibility exercises. Variety keeps me motivated and prevents boredom. Listening to my body and giving it adequate rest and recovery is equally important. Nourishing my body with wholesome foods and staying hydrated are key components of my fitness journey.  Celebrating small victories and staying positive help me stay committed to my fitness routine. Ultimately, my fitness mantra is about finding joy in the process — embracing self-care and cultivating a healthy lifestyle that enhances both my physical and mental well-being.

Q. What is your skincare routine like?

Shraddha: Skincare is a deeply personal journey for me and I have learned to prioritise products that cater to my unique needs. As someone with sensitive skin, my routine revolves around simplicity and effectiveness. Cleansing, toning, and moisturising are my holy trinity. On days when I’m not in front of the camera, I embrace the freedom of going makeup-free — allowing my skin to breathe and rejuvenate. I can’t stress the importance of sunscreen enough — I religiously reapply it every 3-4 hours to shield my skin from harmful rays. However, skincare isn’t just about what we apply externally, it is a reflection of our lifestyle. Staying hydrated by guzzling water is non-negotiable, while makeup removal before bed, no matter how exhausted I am, is a sacred ritual. As a self-proclaimed foodie, I strike a balance by steering clear of fried and sugary delights, opting for nourishing alternatives. And of course, a good night’s sleep is the secret ingredient that completes my skincare routine — allowing my skin to repair and rejuvenate.

Q. Any natural beauty remedies you swear by?

Shraddha: As someone with sensitive skin, I have learned the importance of being cautious with the products and treatments I use. I have found my holy grail in a natural homemade mask that never fails me — a mixture of besan (gram flour) and oils like coconut, jojoba or rosehip oil. I firmly believe in the principle of ‘less is more’ when it comes to skincare. Recognising that sticking to what works best for my skin is crucial. In the mornings, I start my day by icing my face for a minute, a practice that works wonders in reducing puffiness and giving me a fresh look. My daily skincare routine is incredibly simple and hassle-free — sunscreen and a lip balm are my go-to essentials before stepping out of the door. Taking care of my skin doesn’t have to be complicated or time-consuming — it’s about finding what truly works and sticking to it.

Q. Where do you draw your style inspiration from?

Shraddha: When it comes to style inspiration, I find myself drawn to an easy, minimal and understated aesthetic. I embrace a casual yet feminine vibe that reflects my personal taste.

Q. How do you balance your work life with your personal life?

Shraddha: I prioritise maintaining a healthy balance between my work life and personal life — recognising the significance of finding harmony in both areas to thrive. To achieve this balance, effective time management is crucial. I meticulously plan my schedule, allocating specific time slots for work-related activities such as photo shoots, meetings and promotional events, while also dedicating time to myself, my family and loved ones. This allows me to recharge and experience a sense of fulfilment. Additionally, setting boundaries is essential. I establish a designated “me-time” to engage in activities that bring me joy and help me unwind — whether it’s pursuing a hobby, spending time in nature or simply relaxing with loved ones. Regular physical activity is also vital in achieving work-life balance. By incorporating exercise into my routine, I not only stay in shape but also reduce stress, maintain a positive mindset, and approach both work and personal life with renewed energy. Ultimately, by practicing effective time management, setting boundaries and prioritising self-care, I ensure that I can give my best to both my professional commitments and personal life, finding fulfillment, happiness and excelling in all aspects of life.

Q. We heard you are a diehard foodie. Which is your favourite cuisine? Also, how do you manage to stay fit while binge eating?

Shraddha: Oh, absolutely! As a diehard foodie, it’s hard to pick just one favourite cuisine because I love exploring diverse flavours. But if I had to choose, I would say that Indian cuisine holds a special place in my heart. The rich spices, aromatic curries and vibrant flavours never fail to tantalise my taste buds. However, staying fit while indulging in my love for food is a delicate balancing act. I believe in moderation and mindful choices. I prioritise portion control and opt for healthier alternatives whenever possible. Regular exercise is a non-negotiable part of my routine. It keeps me active, boosts my metabolism and allows me to burn those extra calories. I also embrace the concept of “cheat days” where I give myself the freedom to indulge guilt-free. It is all about finding that equilibrium between savouring delicious meals and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Remember, it is not about depriving yourself of the joy of food but rather making conscious decisions and finding a sustainable balance. Life is too short not to relish the pleasures of good food!

Q. Which is the one beauty essential you could never do without?

Shraddha: That’s a tough question since I have a few favorites, but if I had to choose just one, it would be a lip balm. It is a must-have for me to keep my lips moisturised, soft and supple throughout the day. Whether I’m on a shoot or going about my daily activities, having well-hydrated lips is essential for a flawless and comfortable look. The power of lip balm goes beyond its hydrating properties. It also adds a subtle touch of shine and can even enhance the natural beauty of my lips. Whether I’m going for a natural, no-makeup look or glamming up for a special occasion, lip balm is always within reach.

Q. What is your advice to the younger generation?

Shraddha: To the younger generation, my advice would be to embrace your individuality and follow your passions fearlessly. In a world filled with constant comparisons and societal pressures, it’s important to stay true to yourself and pursue what genuinely makes you happy. Take the time to explore your interests, discover your strengths and set goals that align with your authentic self. Don’t be afraid to take risks and step out of your comfort zone. It is through these experiences that you will learn, grow and discover your true potential. Remember that failure is not the end, but rather a stepping stone towards success. Embrace setbacks as valuable lessons and use them to fuel your determination and resilience. Surround yourself with positive influences, supportive friends, and mentors who inspire and uplift you. Lastly, prioritise self-care and maintain a healthy work-life balance. Take care of your physical and mental well-being as it lays the foundation for a fulfilling life.

Q. Your biggest learning in life…

Shraddha: My biggest learning in life has been the importance of embracing change and being adaptable. Life is full of unexpected twists and turns, and it is our ability to adapt and evolve that helps us navigate through the challenges and seize new opportunities. I’ve learned that resisting change only leads to frustration and stagnation. Instead, by embracing change with an open mind and a willingness to learn, we can grow and thrive in the face of uncertainty. It’s about being open to new perspectives, continuously expanding our knowledge and being flexible in our approach. Change has taught me resilience, self-discovery and the power of embracing the unknown. It has pushed me to step out of my comfort zone and discover my true capabilities. Every change — whether big or small — has brought valuable lessons and personal growth. So, my biggest learning is to embrace change, adapt with resilience, and see it as an opportunity for growth and self-improvement.
