Achieving healthy and glowing skin requires a combination of adequate lifestyle habits, the right skincare products, and, of course, the right techniques to massage your face once in a while. While there are several ways to give your face a good massage for that added glow, Roshni Chopra swears by a ‘5-step Kansa wand face glow massage’.

Taking to Instagram, the actor-influencer shared that Kansa helps detox the face and the movements help to stimulate the marma points (the anatomical site where muscles, veins, ligaments, bones and joints meet together) on the face which leads to better circulation and more glow. “Repeat each movement for 5-10 times. It takes only five minutes,” she said.

If you are planning to incorporate this massage into your routine, this is what Roshni’s step-by-step process looks like:

Step 1: Massage in circles of eight around the eyes.

Step 2: Massage in outward strokes from under the cheek and jaw muscles.

Step 3: Drain the fluid from behind the ears.

Step 4: Repeat the movement on the forehead.

Step 5: End by gently massaging the centre point of the forehead.

Dr Rinky Kapoor, consultant dermatologist, cosmetic dermatologist and dermato-surgeon, The Esthetic Clinics explained that a Kansa wand is a traditional Ayurvedic massage tool made of a specific blend of metals, primarily copper and tin. “It is used for facial and body massages to promote relaxation and balance in the body,” she said.

“A Kansa wand face massage is believed to help the skin by improving blood circulation, lymphatic drainage, and reducing puffiness. The metal in the wand is said to balance the body’s energies and remove excess heat, which may contribute to a healthier complexion,” Dr Kapoor added.

To maximise the benefits, she suggested applying a natural oil or serum to your clean face before gently using the Kansa wand in upward strokes. “Start from the centre of your face and move outwards. Use light pressure and focus on areas with tension, like the jawline, temples, and forehead.”

Dr Kapoor also mentioned some precautions you must consider before practising this massage:

*Avoid using the Kansa wand on open wounds, inflamed skin, or active acne.
*If you have sensitive skin, test a small area before using it extensively.
*Clean the wand after each use to prevent the buildup of oils or residues.
*Do not use excessive pressure; the massage should be gentle and relaxing.
*If you have any skin conditions or concerns, consult a dermatologist before using the wand.
