Chhavi shares a healthy snack idea (Source: Chhavi Mittal/Instagram)Without a doubt, diet plays a pivotal role in maintaining your overall health, whether your goal is weight loss or reaching optimal fitness levels. Therefore, it is vital to prioritise and carefully consider what’s on your plate. Although many individuals adhere to strict meal plans for lunch and dinner, they frequently succumb to impromptu unhealthy snack cravings throughout the day. But, what if we tell you that you can make your snacks healthy, too?
Recently, Chhavi Mittal took to Instagram to share what her healthy evening snack looks like. “We’re constantly on the lookout for healthy eating options, aren’t we? Here’s what I’m eating as a snack today,” she captioned the post.
Sharing that she is eating a salad for a snack, Chhavi said, “This salad has 100 grams of chicken, broccoli, carrots, mushrooms, and lettuce. Everything is very low in calories but it fills me up so I can sustain myself till dinner time.”

“100 grams of chicken is giving me 27 grams of protein. Lettuce, on the other hand, is a very good source of vitamin A, vitamin C, folic acid, calcium, iron, and potassium. Carrots, mushrooms, and broccoli are great sources of fibre,” she added, sharing that she hasn’t put any sauces and dressings in the salad to maintain the calorie count.
Supporting Chhavi’s claims about this salad, Ankita Ghoshal Bisht, dietician-in-charge, Primus Super Speciality Hospital said that consuming this salad offers several benefits. “Firstly, the 100g of chicken provides a good source of lean protein, which is essential for muscle growth, repair, and overall health. Broccoli and carrots are rich in fibre, vitamins, and minerals, promoting digestion, supporting immune function, and maintaining healthy skin. Mushrooms offer antioxidants and can boost the immune system, while lettuce adds hydration and contributes to the salad’s overall nutrient density,” she said, adding that by omitting sauces, you avoid unnecessary added sugars, sodium, and unhealthy fats, making the salad a low-calorie option.
But, if you are looking for some alternative snack ideas, Bisht shared a few such options which can “provide balanced nutrition and delicious flavours for a healthy evening meal”. “For other healthy evening meal alternatives, consider grilled salmon with roasted asparagus and quinoa. Salmon is packed with omega-3 fatty acids, promoting heart health and reducing inflammation. Asparagus provides additional fibre and essential nutrients, while quinoa offers a complete protein source,” she said.
Another option is a stir-fry with lean beef, bell peppers, snap peas, and brown rice. “Lean beef is a great source of iron and zinc, while bell peppers and snap peas provide a range of vitamins and antioxidants. Brown rice offers fibre and complex carbohydrates, providing sustained energy,” the dietician said.
