To celebrate the opening of their new flagship boutique in New York’s Madison Avenue last month, Fendi brought together five celebrities to work on their iconic 3Baguette bag and give it their own interpretation. The enviable line-up, also representative of New York’s creative spirit, boasts of musician Rihanna, actor Sarah Jessica Parker, model Jourdan Dunn, artist Rachel Feinstein and blogger Leandra Medine.
Working closely with creative director Silvia Venturini Fendi, the ladies gave the bags their own personal touch — be it in the choice of colours or textures. Each 3Baguette has been realised in three pieces, one for the celebrity, one for the auction and one for the Fendi archive.
Interestingly, all five celebrity creators have chosen a charitable organisation to receive the proceeds from the sale of their customised bag.
Speaking about her association with the luxury label, Sarah Jessica Parker said in the formal release, “Fendi was integral in the storytelling of Sex and the City, and it was the first big luxury house that worked with us. Not many others allowed us the opportunity to have access and help shape our story.” Her design for the 3Baguette bag, the proceeds of which will benefit The Brain Trauma Foundation, features a mix of colours and textures — smooth black velvet, rich purple satin, gold galuchat and shades of blue and cream. Commenting on her design, the actor said, “The possibilities were really endless. I think it reflects my personality and the high regard I have for the house. I thought a lot about the past, about what Fendi has done and about the DNA of the house and the bag. I then used colours, textures and materials that I really love.” The collection, which opened with a cocktail party last month hosted by Karl Lagerfeld, who also sketched out profiles of the five celebrities, will be on display in the new store till March 13. The collection is also available to purchase through a dedicated online auction site — 3baguetteauction. fendi.com.
