The MoS was answering a question raised by fellow MP Kirori Dal Meena.

Dr Singh further stated, “Government has already issued instructions to all ministries/ departments for timely filling up of the unfilled posts. Rozgar Melas, being organised by the Government of India, are expected to act as a catalyst in further employment generation and provide meaningful opportunities to the youth for their empowerment and participation in national development directly.”

Upon being asked if lakhs of applications are being received for a small number of posts or vacancies and the number of applicants with much higher qualifications than the standard qualifications is very large, the minister replied, “There is no bar to prevent candidates, even with higher educational qualification, from applying for the posts advertised based on the requirements indicated by user ministries/ departments.”

The DoPT clarified that it is concerned with appointments in respect of government posts and doesn’t maintain any data in respect of educated unemployed persons.
