Platform ticket sales suspended, Delhi railway station update: To manage the heavy passenger rush, Northern Railway (NR) zone has temporarily suspended the sale of platform tickets at four railway stations in Delhi Division. The move is aimed at ensuring smooth passenger movement and safe boarding and deboarding at busy stations.
Suspension of platform ticket sales
The restriction on platform ticket sales will remain in effect until November 11, 2025. However, the platform tickets will, however, be issued to senior citizens, ailing passengers, children, and lady passengers who require assistance, as per Railway Board guidelines.
In a statement, Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay, Chief Public Relations Officer, NR said: ” In view of heavy rush, sale of platform tickets has been stopped till 11.11.2025 at New Delhi, Delhi Jn., Anand Vihar Terminal and Anand Vihar Halt. However, persons coming to the stations to assist the aged, Divyangjans, Illiterate and Lady passengers, etc. who are not able to fend for themselves are exempted from such restrictions.”
Ahead of Diwali 2025, the Northern Railway zone completed the construction of a permanent holding area at New Delhi railway station and opened it for the commercial use. This permanent holding area has been built towards Ajmeri Gate of New Delhi Railway Station premises to ensure smooth management of passengers during festivals, when the crowd of passengers increases. The center is designed to accommodate approximately 7,000 passengers at any given time.
