A day after the third autopsy of a 20-year-old Dalit girl, who her relatives claim was raped and murdered in a Jind village, was held at AIIMS in New Delhi, the chemical examination report of the girls viscera sent to the Madhuban Forensic Sciencs Laboratory in Karnal has established that she was not raped. The report also said that traces of celphose were found in her body.
The girl had left her home in a Jind village last Saturday to sit for a compartment exam in JBT course but did not return. Her body was recovered the next morning from village fields. Since then, two autopsies had been conducted in Jind and Rohtak, which ruled out rape and murder and indicated that she could have committed suicide. However, the family refused to accept the reports and a third autopsy was held at AIIMS. The report is expected on Friday.
According to sources, the viscera examination report which the Haryana Police received on Thursday has found no traces semen in the girl, thereby ruling out rape. However, traces of celphose were found in the viscera, pointing towards death caused by poisoning.
The police will now send the chemical examination report to forensic experts at AIIMS. Another pathology report is expected to be available by Saturday morning.
The police have also identified eight witnesses who saw the girl roaming along the banks of a canal around Saturday afternoon. Sources said they have claimed they neither heard anyone screaming nor saw anybody near the girl.
Meanwhile, the girls relatives and villagers continued their protest in Jind on Thursday. The body had been kept in a refrigerated coffin at the Jind Civil Hospital. The protesters claimed they will place the body in front of the deputy commissioners residence on Friday and further intensify their agitation if the state fails to accept their demands. Various parties, including the BJP,have also joined in the stir and extended support to the deceaseds family.
A relative of the girl, who is also heading a committee of villagers spearheading the protest, said: We will not cremate the body till our demands are met. The police and the state government have deliberately tried to fudge the postmortem reports. The police assaulted us when we raised our voice and then registered false criminal cases against us.
Their demands are arrest of all accused, compensation for the girls family, government job for a relative and withdrawal of all criminal cases registered against the protesters.
When contacted,Jind SP Balwan Singh said: The AIIMS autopsy report is awaited. There are certain points that required further clarity from forensic experts at AIIMS. The final report is expected tomorrow. Meanwhile,we are investigating the case considering all angles.
Five special teams have been constituted to investigate the case. Senior officers, including IG (Hisar Range) and Jind SP,have inspected the spot and are monitoring the investigation, said SHO Kaptan Singh of Jind City police station.
