Six held for robbing bank employees

Six persons were arrested in the capital for their alleged involvement in a number of snatching cases,including the recent looting of two bank employees of Rs 9.57 lakh in west Delhi.

Six persons were arrested in the capital for their alleged involvement in a number of snatching cases,including the recent looting of two bank employees of Rs 9.57 lakh in west Delhi,police said on Thursday.

The accused were identified as Amarjeet Singh (23),Rahul (20),Naseem Khan (29),Pradeep Kumar (26),Satbir Singh (22) and Adnan Khan (18),Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Neeraj Thakur told reporters here.

The gang allegedly looted Rs 9.57 lakh from Surender (47),field officer of Sarvajan Sahakari Bank in Trinagar,and Ashwini (30),a peon in the bank,after opening fire at themin Keshavpuram on July 27.

The bank employees were waylaid near a bridge in Keshavpuram.

During interrogation,Thakur claimed,it came to light that Pradeep knew Ashwini.

“He visited Ashwini a couple of times one week before the incident and gathered information about the timings and mode of transport used by them,” Thakur said,adding he then discussed with Adnan the possibility of robbing the cash.

Two members of the gang are yet to be arrested and efforts are on to nab them,he said.
