On his charge taking day,Bajwa’s uncle joins Akali Dal

Though Khera holds no official post in the Congress party,he was instrumental in brokering peace between Bajwa and his younger brother Fateh Singh Bajwa during 2012 Assembly polls,when Fateh was miffed at being sidelined for the party ticket,which was eventually given to PPCC chief’s wife Charanjit Kaur Bajwa. She is sitting MLA of Congress from Qadian.

Khera attributed his leaving the Congress to prevalent working style of the party. He said he was upset at Congress high command reportedly deciding to have working presidents to assist Bajwa.

“By deciding to appoint working president,the Congress high command has clipped wings of Bajwa. This is an insult to my relative. What is the need to have working presidents for Punjab,which is like a soobi (he meant small state as sooba in Punjabi means state),” Khera said.

“It was an emotional decision (to leave Congress and join SAD),” Khera said.

He claimed that he remained associated with SAD in the past for two decades prior to working for Congress.
