CHANDIGARH: Four children of a residential colony in Narwana,Jind,were allegedly kidnapped from the village Thursday evening. Haryana police have registered a case of kidnapping and are conducting searches across the state. The missing children includes three siblings – Saloni(8),Shivani(7) and Vikas(5),children of Rameshwar and Aman (4),son of Hariram,all residents of Bhagat Singh Colony. The state police force is conducting searches across the state.
Health minister issues directives
Chandigarh: The Punjab health minister has asked all civil surgeons and medical officers to regularly make surprise visits to hospitals and in the field. Presiding over a state-level conference of civil surgeons,Health Minister Madan Mohan Mittal issued instructions to ensure quality health services. He also announced special health camps for prison inmates.
Reviewing the progress report of his department,Mittal instructed senior officials to take necessary steps to start evening OPDs in government hospitals.
165 DSP-level officers transferred
Chandigarh: The Punjab government on Friday posted and transferred 165 DSP-level officers. The transfers follow a recent slew of promotions of inspectors to DSPs by the police department.
BTech student dies in Jalandhar hostel
JALANDHAR: A BTech second-year student of Dr B R Ambedkar National Institute of Technology (NIT) died today under mysterious circumstances. Paras Himanshu Vishodya of Sarahanpur in Uttar Pradesh was staying in the institute hostel. It was learnt that he was ill for the past few days and was taking medicine from the NIT hospital. His roommate said that Paras had high fever. He had got some tests done from a private hospital in Jalandhar a couple of days back and the reports were yet to be received.
PPP will move HC against Punjab cops
Moga: The Peoples Party of Punjab chief Manpreet Badal on Friday announced that his party was going to file a petition in the Punjab and Haryana Court against Punjab police. Addressing a press conference in Moga on Friday,Badal said Parkash Singh Badal,is completely misusing his powers and under SAD pressure Punjab police is threatening,torturing and intimidating PPP workers and panchayats across the state. He referred to the recent clash in Kaila village in Dharamkot due to which PPP vice president Kuldeep Singh Dhoses son Laadi Dhose alias Davinder was sent to 15 days judicial custody.
Himachal pensioners body demands dues
Shimla: The Pensioners’ Welfare Association of Himachal Pradesh,led by retired IAS officer Jiwanand Jiwan,has asked Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh to fulfill all pending demands of 50 lakh pensioners,including arrears of medical bills and 8 percent DA already announced by the Centre. Hari Chand Gupta,secretary general of the body,said,”We demand that the CM make an announcement on release of DA on August 15″.
Youth commits suicide in Sirsa
Chandigarh: A man was found dead in Nejia village in Sirsa on Friday. Rameshwar (25) hailed from Abhana district in Madhya Pradesh and had been living in Dera Sacha Sauda,Sirsa,for the last few days. Preliminary investigations revealed that Rameshwar was in love with a girl in the Dera and when she refused to marry him he hanged himself from a tree.
