Indian Meteorological Centre of Goa on Tuesday issued ‘heavy rain’ warning at isolated placed for three consecutive days starting from Tuesday.
“The active off-shore trough between the coast from South of Maharastra to Kerala, suggests that heavy rain can be anticipated from 19th to 21st of this month,” Director of Metereological Centre (Goa) Dr. V. K Mini told The Indian Express.
Given our data collection from 13 monitoring centres across the state, the guages of at least three centres have given the reading of rainfall of above seven-centimetres – subsequent to which we have issued warning,” she added.

However, the IMD authorities added that monsoon prediction did not pose any major threat as of now as Area Cyclone Warning Centre (ACWC) in Mumbai has not yet issued any wind warning.
While usually, the state witnesses rainfall measuring up to 154 centimetres, IMD says since the beginning of the monsoon season (June) this year the state has already received 175 centimetres of rain, an increase of over 11 per cent. This may act quite a dampner for the tourist state that is trying to promote itself as 365-days tourist destination.
However, a tourism department representative says given the introduction of water sports and trekking activities – the bookings are almost occupied. “Some of the activities are specifically designed for the monsoon season, so we don’t see any impact of adverse weather over the domestic visitors,” spokesperson for state tourism said.
