Gold Rate Today: While gold rates in India reached historic highs at the start of October, driven by concerns over a potential US government shutdown, which led to increased demand for safe-haven assets, in addition to the festive seasonal demand in India.

However, on October 10, Friday, gold prices have seen a downward trend across all purity levels, with the consistent price rise reflecting growing demand and market fluctuations influencing gold valuations.

The yellow metal is considered an ideal inflation hedge, with 24-carat gold being the most expensive form of gold and is commonly used for investment purposes, while 22-carat gold and 18-carat gold are primarily utilised for jewellery.

Gold prices witnessed a decline today, with 24K gold trading at ₹12,229 per gram, down ₹186 from the previous rate. Similarly, 22K gold fell by ₹170 to ₹11,210 per gram, while 18K gold dropped ₹139, settling at ₹9,172 per gram. The downward movement reflects a broader softening in the precious metals market.
