314 students entered India from violence-hit Bangladesh: BSF

A senior BSF official said Sunday that of the 314 students, 152 entered India through Akhaura ICP and 162 through Srimantapur ICP.

Even as the Supreme Court of Bangladesh scaled back the reservation quota in government jobs, 314 Indian and Nepalese students returned to the Indian territory via Srimantapur and Akhaura Integrated Check Posts (ICP) in Tripura Sunday.

A total of 693 students have so far been evacuated from violence-hit Bangladesh.

A senior BSF official said Sunday that of the 314 students, 152 entered India through Akhaura ICP and 162 through Srimantapur ICP.

BSF Tripura Frontiers IG Patel Piyush Purushottam Das said, “The current law and order situation in Bangladesh due to anti-reservation protest is having security challenges and implications for BSF also as Tripura is a bordering state covered on all sides by Bangladesh.”
