Panama Papers: Trailing 6 firms, Delhi hit Mossack Fonseca wall

Mossack Fonseca (MF), the Panama law firm, isn’t exactly unknown to investigators in New Delhi. India’s Income Tax department has been pursuing, since 2013, individuals and companies that allegedly sought to evade taxes by parking their cash in tax havens.

MF documents, investigated by The Indian Express, reveal that India sent notices to authorities in tax havens, including in the Bahamas, seeking details of beneficial ownership and finances of at least six offshore companies managed by Mossack Fonseca.

Records show how difficult it has been for these authorities to get information from MF.
