What to watch on OTT: If you want to head to theatres, there’s Sunny Deol’s Jaat, Ajith’s Good Bad and Ugly, and Mammootty’s Bazooka that have just released. However, if your weekend jam is to watch OTT and chill, we have you covered. Here’s everything that’s landing on streamers this week.

Chhaava

After a blockbuster theatrical run, Chhaava that features Vicky Kaushal as the titular protagonist is all set to stream on Netflix. Directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan for Maddock Films, the film brings to life the story of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, who is referred to as ‘Chhaava’. Kaushal, in a press note said, “Playing Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj was an honor beyond words and one of the most fulfilling experiences of my career.” The cast also features Akshaye Khanna, Rashmika Mandanna, Ashutosh Rana, Divya Dutta, Vineet Kumar Singh, Neil Bhoopalam, and Diana Penty. The film’s music is composed by AR Rahman, and lyrics by Irshad Kamil.

The sequel to Chhorii (2021), set in the unexplored realm of underground caves, returns to Sakshi’s haunting world. Unsettling rituals, ghostly figures, and eerie folklore build an atmosphere thick with dread as Sakshi (Nushrratt Bharucccha) confronts malevolent supernatural forces to protect her daughter, Ishani. Directed by Vishal Furia, the film also features Soha Ali Khan. In Chhorii, a remake of the Marathi-language film Lapachhapi (2017), a pregnant Sakshi struggles to save her unborn child from the monsters that exist in the normal and the paranormal world.

The Gardener

The six-episode fiction series tells the story of Elmer and his controlling mother, La China Jurado, manager of a garden center that hides another thriving underground murder-for-hire business. Killing is easy for Elmer since an accident had left him emotionless. However, while planning the murder of Violeta, a charming nursery school teacher, he falls in love with her. Now, Elmer must learn to love while his mother does everything possible to end Violeta’s life. This “romantic thriller” is created by Miguel Sáez Carral. Its cast features Álvaro Rico, Cecilia Suárez and Catalina Sopelana.

This four-part docuseries that explores the story of 15-year-old Blake Robbins, who filed a lawsuit claiming that his prestigious public school was spying on him when he was accused of selling drugs. Beneath this suburban scandal lie more troubling revelations, with implications in a larger war over digital privacy being waged in schools today. From Mark Wahlberg’s Unrealistic Ideas and directed by Jody McVeigh-Schultz, the series features Blake Robbins, Paige Bardhoshi, April Duran and Mark Haltzman amongst others.

The Emmy Award-winning comedy series, featuring Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder, returns with a new season. The comedy series revolves around the professional relationship between a young comedy writer Ava Daniels (Einbinder), and a legendary stand-up comedian Deborah Vance (Smart). The upcoming season focuses on how Deborah and Ava navigate their troubled relationship even as they try to launch a new late night talk show.

The Malayalam-language black comedy, which is written and directed by Sreeraj Sreenivasan, follows a murder that happened inside the toddy shop and the hilarious events surrounding the investigation. On a rainy night, after the shop was closed, 11 people stayed inside, playing cards and drinking. Later, the shop’s owner is found hanging dead at the shop.
